If you're having trouble viewing this page...

Have you ever visited a website and suddenly found certain features don't work, images are missing or the layout just looks wrong? In some cases the fault can lay squarely at your browser. A Browser (or web browser) is an application which allows you to "Browse" websites on the Internet, browsers take HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and renders it as a webpage hopefully as the web designer intended.

There are many popular web browsers mostly available for free download such as Internet Explorer by Microsoft, Safari by Apple, Chrome by Google and Firefox an open source offering by Mozilla. All browsers render web pages slightly differently and herein is the problem, as a rule the complex the web page, the more likely you are to run in to the occasional issue. As an operation system such as macOS or Windows ages (without being updated) the browser, which is often integrated in to the OS, can become outdated itself therein increasing the frequency of running into incompatibility issues due to running new code on old browsers.

The best antidote to browser issues is to keep your browser and/or operating system up to date and to stick to the big 4 browsers.

The Big 4

Microsoft Edge | Internet Explorer
Apple Safari
Mozilla Firefox
